About Krum

While the 2000 Census showed Krum to house only 1,979 residents, it is believed the city has grown a great deal, with a population numbering over 3,000 today. The beginnings of Krum lie in the coming of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway, running a line through western Denton County in 1884. In 1886, one land owner sold 200 acres from his property for a town railroad site. This led to the growth of business for the town of Krum. After the Great Depression, the area suffered loss, but the building of Interstate 35 made commuting to city jobs easy, and the population rose again.
